Raqketa Williams, Counseling Intern
We will all face a certain amount of suffering in life. We do not, however, have to suffer alone or in silence. Connection and belonging can be so healing, even in the face of the unthinkable. I am honored to offer support and to walk alongside my clients when life gets tough. I prioritize guiding my clients to identify their values and helping them bring their lives into greater alignment with what is truly important to them. I also love to celebrate and build on my clients’ strengths that have served them and helped them survive thus far.

About Me: Raqketa is a counseling intern at Cumberland and a Clinical Mental Health Counseling student at Richmont Graduate University. She grew up in rural East Texas before relocating to Dallas to attend Southern Methodist University (SMU). Upon graduating, Raqketa deferred law school and moved to Atlanta to join Teach for America, serving as a public elementary school teacher for several years. After completing her time in the classroom, Raqketa attended law school at University of Georgia and subsequently practiced law in Atlanta for over a decade before transitioning into counseling work.
Raqketa’s faith is important to her and the values it has taught her – patience, compassion, humility, and empathy – are evident in her work. She also loves laughter and moments of levity and sprinkles in humor wherever she can. When not sitting with clients, Raqketa loves to spend quality time with her husband, hang out at the baseball fields with her sons, and serve in her church. When all else fails, you can find her curled up with a book – she is an avid reader (and is always open to book recommendations!).
Education:
- Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Richmont Graduate University (in progress)
- Juris Doctorate, University of Georgia
- Master’s of Education, Georgia State University
- Bachelor of Arts, Southern Methodist University
Raqketa practices under the Direction & Supervision of Dr. Marcuetta Sims.
