Internship Opportunities at Cumberland Counseling Centers

Cumberland Counseling Centers is committed to shaping the next generation of mental health professionals. Our clinical training program provides master’s and doctoral students in counseling, social work, and psychology with hands-on experience in individual, couples, family, and group therapy. As a nonprofit, we prioritize accessible, high-quality mental health care for all, and our interns are essential in fulfilling this mission.

Interns primarily train at our Vinings location inside Renovation Church, gaining valuable experience working with diverse clients. Supervision includes weekly one-on-one guidance with Dr. Marcuetta Sims, group consultations with our clinical team, and support from secondary supervisors, especially in group counseling settings. Interns are also welcomed into staff gatherings and team-building activities, fostering connection and growth.

Beyond clinical skills, our program offers exposure to the business side of private practice in a community-based setting. Each year, we select two interns, with priority given to Richmont University students through our partnership with Richmont and Hope Counseling Centers. Interns dedicate approximately 20 hours per week to direct and indirect client care, with requirements tailored to program needs.

This is more than an internship—it’s an opportunity to develop as a clinician, gain invaluable real-world experience, and make a lasting impact.
