Michelle Robertson, APC, NCC

I am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with individuals and couples on pursuing a life filled with hope and purpose. Maybe you're here because you recognize patterns in your behaviors, thoughts, and feelings, or challenges in your relationships that are out of sync with how you want your life to be. Perhaps there's something you can't quite put your finger on, but you sense a pull toward change. We often hesitate to make changes because the unknown outcome of that change seems scarier than staying in the dysfunction we do know. Or maybe we're impacted by the shame of our past behaviors or those that were inflicted upon us, and find it difficult to believe change is even possible. I acknowledge that change is possible! So, I would be honored to help you define those beneficial changes, encourage you to make those first wobbly steps, and/or help you come to believe in the possibilities.

About Me: I offer warmth and unconditional positive regard while integrating EMDR's AIP model, motivational interviewing, and strength based, solution, and emotion focused techniques. I don't typically see one's issues they bring to counseling as a "disorder;" I often see those issues as stemming from how the nervous system interpreted past experiences. And sometimes, we interpret things dysfunctionally! Therefore, I find exploring your past to be a valuable endeavor in the counseling room. I practice EMDR, which is an effective technique in helping to resolve present issues related to past events. Additionally, I draw on my own experience with addiction and recovery, and will incorporate Christian counseling and biblical principles if you are open to that.
